Gilmore Dog Rescue Adoption Process. (Scroll to bottom for application!)
-
1. Application Submission.
Start by completing our adoption application BELOW. This helps us learn more about you, your home, and your lifestyle
-
2. Application Review
Our team will carefully review your application and may follow up with additional questions.
-
3. Meet & Greet (In-Home Visit)
If your application is approved, we’ll schedule a meet-and-greet at your home. This step allows us to ensure the environment is safe and comfortable for the dog while giving you an opportunity to interact with them in your space.
-
4. Staycation (Trial Period)
We offer a short trial staycation where the dog stays with you in your home. This gives both you and the dog time to adjust and ensure it’s the right fit.
-
5. Final Approval & Home Check
Our team will check in during the staycation to ensure everything is going well. After a successful trial period and final approval from our rescue team, the adoption will be finalized.
-
6. Adoption Fee
A $200 adoption fee is required to help cover the cost of vaccinations, spaying/neutering, and other necessary care.
Time to find your best friend!

Please Note:
Gilmore Dog Rescue is currently only able to conduct home visits and checks within the Charlotte, NC area. We are a very small, 100% volunteer-based team and do not have the capacity—or donation funds—to travel outside of this area. ** If you do not live in Charlotte, please do not apply. We hope this will change soon, but for now, we just don’t have the man power to travel!***
Home visits are non-negotiable and are in place solely to ensure the safety and wellbeing of our dogs. We ask that you please be kind and respectful to our volunteers, who give their time and hearts freely to help these pups.
We understand that you may have fallen in love with his bio or his photos—but our job is to advocate for the dogs first. Our only goal is to continue helping the dogs of Charlotte find safe, loving, and appropriate homes.
Thank you for understanding and supporting our mission. 💛 We've had some strange encounters lately, so protecting these babies is our number one concern—now and always.
